Choosing Talks or

Developing Your Teaching Syllabus
Workshops provide a great way to learn but
they are not always appropriate or practical.
That's why we also provide training a range of talks, presentations
and lectures on clinical trials, clinical research, drug development
and other related subjects for schools, colleges, universities, industry
and professional societies. These may be one-off or delivered as a series
to dovetail with existing courses, learning or training.
a. Clinical Trials, Clinical Research & Drug Development
All
of our talks are designed to fit your needs.
Whether we're talking to school students, university students,
members of professional societies or professionals and non-professionals
from industry, we take the same time and care to ensure high quality,
memorable teaching and training. We also expect that you'll have
some fun in the process!
Choice of subjects we offer is broad but some examples include:
Learn how all the different pieces
fit together in a drug development programme, or how a
clinical trial is designed and run from idea to results.
Zooming in and learning about specific aspects
of drug development or clinical research, such as how we control
and reduce bias in clinical studies, the Ethics review process,
patient consent or the clinical phase of drug development.
Promoting and facilitating frank and open discussions
about clinical trials, with the opportunity to ask all those questions
you've been thinking about.
Interactive talks where simple workshop type
activities are performed with speaker facilitation to reinforce
presented information.
b. Specifically for Schools & Colleges
Our talks and presentations, suitable
for students in Key Stage 3 upwards, fit perfectly with GCSE and
A-Level syllabuses*. So whether students are studying
science, health &
social care or psychology, we can enhance teaching and help with revision.
* Especially AQA
Our talks for schools can include:
Nervous Transmission and how
we can affect it with drugs
How we research and test new
drugs
Understanding why and how we detect
pain, how we treat it and how we develop
new drugs
How we run a clinical trial
Background information on clinical trials,
their design, conduct, analysis and reporting
How we control bias and other important factors
in clinical trials to make sure that we get meaningful results
How the results of a clinical trials apply to everyone
who may have the same disease or condition
... etc
c. Specifically for Universities
In addition to our usual talks on clinical trials,
clinical research and drug development, we can also look at more specialist
areas. For example, students from pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences
may want to look at the concept of quality within a clinical trial. Others
may want to consider pain assessment and how we design measuring instruments
to provide reliable and meaningful results. The list is long, so why
not talk to us about your needs. We are open and honest about the
services we provide and will gladly let you know what we can, and cannot,
provide for you.
Each talk is designed to meet the needs of its target audience. They can be broad or focussed depending on your requirements.
We
deliver our talks and presentations to any size of audience, ranging from
a few individuals in a small room to several hundred in a large auditorium,
at a venue of your choice.
Presentations are delivered using a laptop and multi-media projector. We can
also use flipcharts, overhead projectors, whiteboards etc depending on the
situation.
We believe that presentations are not spectator sports so
encourage interaction and participation at all stages. We even add a few
surprises to reinforce what we deliver.

in the pharmaceutical industry for more than 18 years.
He specialises in making complex processes and ideas easy
to understand, for all ability levels.
Learn more about Stuart.
"Stuart is a rare individual. His ability to create sense from chaos, to distil clarity of thinking from murky waters and to impart technical knowledge in a way that makes it all seem simple, is a unique gift. His dry humour and ability to view things from a different angle, was of huge value and support to me in my role. Always challenging and thorough in his dissection, Stuart was great to work with and made meetings interesting! Put simply, he is a man many could learn from, pragmatic, human, reflective and passionate about the positive impact of what he does."
