An exciting, creative training experience that takes you through a clinical trial, from start to finish by using easy-to-perform, easy-to-understand activities.

Students learn why careful design and control and good interpersonal skills are essential for accurate and meaningful results.

The Clinical Trial Experience workshop is fun and engaging, making the connection between learning at school and application in real-life. Students also learn about career opportunities rarely advertised outside the pharmaceutical industry.

We understand that workshops are not always practical or appropriate, so we also deliver our training using a range of interactive talks and presentations, lasting between 45 minutes and 1 hour.

This training is great for revision.

  Who is it for?

Students in Key Stage 3, 4 & 5

The Clinical Trial Experience is directly applicable to

• The science curriculum at Key Stage 3, 4 & 5
• All GCSE and A-level courses which include a clinical trials element in their syllabus e.g., human biology, science, health & social care, psychology. This training dovetails with AQA GCSE Biology units 10 & 11 particularly well.
• All students thinking about their future careers, whether in the formative years of Key Stage 3 or at Key Stage 4 & 5 (career options rarely publicised outside the pharmaceutical industry are included in this training).

Students work together in groups enhancing their team-working, interactive and social skills.

Teachers

The Clinical Trial Experience allows teachers to 'take part' in their own clinical trial, without drugs and needles! Discover the importance of everyday skills and scientific principles for designing and running a successful clinical trial.

Working together also helps to build teams and enhance interpersonal skills.

The trainer, Dr Stuart Wood, worked in clinical research, training and education in the pharmaceutical industry for more than 18 years and specialises in making complex processes easy to understand, for all ability levels.  Learn more about Stuart.

All training is conducted in a relaxed, non-threatening atmosphere at a venue of your choice. Choose a 45-minute talk; a one-hour talk; a series of talks or a 3½-hour workshop ... but please remember that we mix and match content and time-span to suit your needs.
